Admission Policy

The educational objective of the Department of Health and Education for Child is that to foster students to obtain the enriched personality as an instructor and supporter to nurture children of a sounded mind and healthy body, also high level of advanced knowledge in child growth and development.
The department provides the courses for acquisition of licenses; nursery school, kindergarten and elementary school teacher. In addition, the junior high school physical education teacher license is
acquirable through its curriculum.
The characteristic courses are for students to gain the basic child growth and development knowledge and advanced specialized knowledge and skills to scientifically and effectively instruct and support the child mental and physical progress in each age stage.
Therefore, following students with strong sense of purpose are desired.

Those interested in the growth and development of child from infancy to early childhood, and aspire to become a nursery school, kindergarten and elementary school teacher.

Those who are interested in the growth and development of child from early childhood to adolescence, and aspire to become an elementary school teacher and junior high school physical education teacher.

In sum, for learning in the Department of Health and Education for Child, we expect students to acquire the basic academic skills, to expand the interests in child health and education issues through books and newspaper, and also to participate the activity associated with children in the own community.

Curriculum Policy

The Department of Health and Education for Child systematically arranges 7 academic disciplines based on the above educational objectives and diploma policy.
In order to develop the necessary ability to educate children both physical and mental healthy as its educator and supporter, the
department provides the lectures and practices for basic knowledge and skills acquisition.
At the same time, the department also offers students an opportunity to relate to children, their educator and supporter directly through the Pedology principles.

Outline of Academic Disciplines

Health Science ( All Departments )

To obtain the comprehensive knowledge of physical, mental, and social health including body changes with aging, moreover, the broad knowledge of fitness, nutrition, and refreshment for maintaining and promoting importance of health.

Pedology

This discipline is as beginning for learning all the other related courses, also as intensive ones. Also, to acquire the specialized knowledge and practical skills of child growth and development through the off-campus practices and practical researches.

Mind and Body

To learn the necessary theory and practice systematically for managing the physical and mental health, and learn how to educate and support children at each their development stage with understanding of the characteristics of the child growth and development from infancy to adolescence.

Society and Environment

To learn the current situation of the society and the environment surrounding children, and gain the ability to take an action to improve them.

Play and Culture

To acquire the necessary knowledge for the on-site education and support of child play and culture at each child growth and development stage from infancy to adolescence. Additionally, acquisition of child play creativity skills for each child development stage is aimed.

Exercise and Nutrition

With apprehension of the necessary fitness and nutrition for the assurance of the both physical and mental health and healthy development, deal with the child individual problems, and obtain the professional, significant knowledge for education and support of child healthy development in the community.

Developmental Support

As children those who need an individualized care such as developmental disorder are increasingly widespread, to obtain the expertness regarding the techniques to support those children properly with assessment of each child.

Others

Other courses are provided for acquisition of teaching licenses such as nursery teacher, kindergarten teacher, elementary school teacher and junior high school physical education teacher.

Childcare/Elementary Education Course

The purpose of this course is to become an educator of children from infancy to early childhood encouraging healthy child growth and development.

Elementary School/Junior High School Education Course

This course is aimed at enabling students to encourage healthy development and growth of children from school age to adolescence on the basis of the knowledge about the physical and mental progress in infants.

Diploma Policy

The Department of Health and Education for Child awards students with Bachelor Degree of Arts
in Pedology when the requirements of the prescribed credits and skills below have been satisfied.
